The Planning Committee put a lot of work into determining the boundaries that would define the Creative District. While the options preferred by the Committee had satellite areas that helped to make the map more inclusive, that strategy failed to meet the criteria for official designation by the Washington State Arts Commission, which were that the map must be contiguous and walkable. Ultimately, the committee reached agreement on the map below, which has a central focus on the downtown core of Burien, but also includes the culturally-important Boulevard Park neighborhood in the northern part of the city.
